C.LINEARIS IS A BUSY, MEDIUM SIZED SHRUB WITH LINEAR LEAVES AND RED BOTTLEBRUSH SPIKES UP TO 12CM LONG. LEAVES ARE AROMATIC WHEN CRUSHED. FLOWERS APPEAR IN LATE SPRING AND EARLY SUMMER.

GROW IN A SHELTERED POSITION IN FULL SUN WITH A MOIST BUT WELL DRAINED SOIL.

SOIL: LOAM, SAND

OCCURS IN AND BETWEEN THE SOUTH-EAST CORNER OF QUEENSLAND, NOWRA ON THE SOUTH COAST OF NEW SOUTH WALES AND INLAND AS FAR AS GILGANDRA. GROWS IN DAMP SITUATIONS IN A RANGE OF VEGETATION ASSOCIATIONS.

THIS PLANT IS ATTRACTIVE TO BEES, BUTTERFLIES AND BIRDS.

BUSH FOOD : BOTTLEBRUSH FLOWERS HAVE A SWEET NECTAR WHICH CAN EITHER BE CONSUMED BY SUCKING ON THE FLOWERS OR BY SOAKING THE FLOWERS IN WATER TO MAKE A SWEET DRINK.
