Widespread across much of the dry lands of central and southern Australia. it often occurs in pure stand of limestone plains or alluvial floodplains, but may be found in a range of habitats. Shrub to 3 m.

Excellent windbreak, shelterbelt or shade for stock, foliage has stock fodder potential, suitable for pots. Flowering usually occurs in the Winter months, but may occur at other time of the year depending on seasonal conditions.

Relatively fast growing shrub, moderately frost and drought tolerant. An ideal choice for a variety of landscaping needs, a hardy shrub that can tolerate most soil types and climates. Frost, drought, and wind resistant, it's a plant that can stand up to the long-term. Plus, its foliage makes an excellent fodder for livestock, making it both an aesthetically pleasing and practical choice.

Bush Food: Edible foliage and seed, 'TYULERN' Seeds were used by indigenous people as a food source, the leaves are also edible, salty in flavour and rich in protein, antioxidants and minerals.

Consume like a leafy vegetable, blanch, sauté, wrap around protein, add to salads, or use to stuff poultry, leaves may be dried and used as a herb or sprinkle.

Bush medicine: The leaves were traditionally used medicinally, and were often added to water as skin cleansers for sores, burns and wounds. The plant has been used for the treatment of scurvy and blood diseases.

Germination: Rinsing seeds in flowing water for about an hour improves germination. The seeds start to germinate in around 6 days if grown at 25c
