A large evergreen shrub to around 3m in height, with masses of white flowers from spring through to summer, related to callistemon and with similar flowers this species is also known as the 'tick bush and 'poverty bush'

Prefers well drained soil and full sun. Drought tolerant once established. Tip prune after flowerig to proote a more busy and compact shrub.

The seed capsules are distinctive but remain on the plant only until the fruit matures.

Grows into a handsome shrub which attracts numerous birds and colourful soldier beetles when in flower. Adapts to many situations and may be used as a background shrub, for screenings or as a feature plant.

Bush food: use the leaves as a tasty tea or as a strong flavour in cooking. This is the best native plant to add to dishes like roast meat and veggies.

Germination: This species germinated readily from seed, surface sow or cover the seed lightly, germinates in 3 - 5 weeks.
