Callistemon citrinus is an evergreen shrub boasting arching branches decked with lance-shaped leaves that start off coppery in hue before turning to gray-green. When the foliage is lightly touched, a lemon-like scent is released. Vivid crimson bottlebrush-like flower spikes, measuring 4 inches, add to the plant's beauty.

Grows between 1 and 3 meters in height. The stunning crimson flower spikes appear in November and December (late spring to early summer) in the species native range.

Those seeking nectar from the flowers include eastern spinebills, new holland honeyeaters, noisy miners, red wattlebirds and silvereyes, while crimson rosellas eat the seeds.

Thrives in well drained soils rich in organic matter and direct sunlight.

Bush food : Bottlebrush flowers have a sweet nectar which can either be consumed by sucking on the flowers or by soaking the flowers in water to make a sweet drink.

Germination: Sow direct on the surface, germination 1- 4 weeks
